Runway Theatre Company are delighted to announce that once again our annual Christmas pantomime will be broadcast across Scotland on STV2.
This year's production, Aladdin, will be our second pantomime to be televised following the success of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood which achieved over 100,000 viewers on STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh - making it the UK's biggest amateur pantomime.
STV2 opens Runway's traditional Scottish pantomime to an even larger audience than last year, as the STV's sister station broadcasts across the country in Aberdeen, Dundee and Ayr on top of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The cameras will come and join us for tonight's performance which will then be edited into a 2 hour programme and broadcast. Once again, we can assure our Friday night audiences that the cameras will be discretely situated and should not cause any disruption or changes to our performance.
Commenting on the commission Angus Simpson, STV2 producer said
“We all love a good panto and, this year, Runway Theatre Company is bringing us one of the classics. With Aladdin, we’re getting a traditional pantomime with a whole range of the special touches we have come to expect from Runway. Their show last year was a real ratings winner, so we are delighted they are sharing their 50th Anniversary production with STV2 viewers. This will be a real treat for the countless panto lovers who missed out on tickets for their sell-out run at the Eastwood Park Theatre.”
