Trained at Mountview, Campbell has played a variety of roles in musical theatre, including King Arthur in Camelot, Emile de Beque - South Pacific, Adam Pontipee - Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Billy Bigelow - Carousel, Curly - Oklahoma!, The Red Shadow - The Desert Song, Tommy - Brigadoon, Mr Snow - Carousel, Fred Graham - Kiss Me, Kate, Ravenal - Show Boat, Mr Bumble - Oliver!, Daddy Warbucks - Annie, Anatoly - Chess, Thomas Andrews - Titanic, The King - The King and I, Henry Higgins - My Fair Lady and Tevye - Fiddler On The Roof.

Other theatre work includes Rev. Hale in The Crucible, John McLean in The Game's A Bogey, Romainville - Ring Round the Moon, Otto Frank - The Diary of Anne Frank, and René - 'Allo 'Allo. In panto, he has played everything from Principal Boy through Villain to Dame.
